THE PEACE PROJECT

The Peace Project is an audible snapshot of a improvisational dance show that has grown from the seed of an idea into a philosophy; a paradigm that has changed many who have had the opportunity to see the show, attend a public rehearsal or take part in a body movement or healing workshop.

The project began in 2007, when Deirdre Young, choreographer, dancer and artistic director of Quenched Pure Performance met folk singer & Ethno-Celt musician, Mac MacKenzie, . The first incarnation of The Peace Project, centered around the theme of Creation and was performed for a full house at The Jack Singer Concert Hall at the Epcor Centre For The Performing Arts, as part of the multi-cultural celebration, Raise A Joyful Noise.

The second incarnation of the project, was the culmination of a dream consisting of a full-on, one hour improvisational show that would take performers and audience alike on an inner journey of exploration and an outer journey of humanitarian action; the show performed by one dancer and one musician and all of it completely improvised! The Peace Project enfolded a whole year of prayer, planning, rehearsals, public rehearsals, movement and healing workshops, and retreats culminating in two nights at The Epcor Centre For The Performing Arts in November of 2008.

Now, the studio soundtrack for that year of prayer, planning, preparation, rehearsal, magic school bus discussions, workshops and performances is in your hands to enjoy during your times of prayer, meditation, movement, and healing! Immerse yourself in the ancient, primitive, organic sounds of sacred instruments from around the world and let God transform you into an instrument of peace.
